Notes on this record
How the lists were read, and what could not be.
- Chatham is not a municipality: it is the largest community in the Municipality of Chatham-Kent and corresponds to Ward 6. This record is meant to carry the Chatham-Kent mayor race plus Ward 6 only.
- Sitting council shown is partial: Mayor Darrin Canniff (Mayor page) and the two councillors whose own official pages state they represent Ward 6 (Alysson Storey, Conor Allin). Other sitting councillors' pages do not state a ward, so their Ward 6 membership is not asserted here.
- Re-run when the list is reachable: the certified list should be fetched from the municipality (or a Clerk-signed notice) and incumbents matched.
- Sitting Ward 6 (Chatham) council completed with Michael Bondy, Marjorie Crew, Amy Finn and Brock McGregor (UNOFFICIAL: Wikipedia's 2022 Ontario municipal elections results for Chatham-Kent Ward 6, six elected; corroborated as current councillors by the Chatham Voice's 2026 candidate summary, which marks Crew, Finn and McGregor as incumbents and calls Bondy 'Chatham Coun.'). The existing Canniff, Storey and Allin rows are unchanged.
- Chatham Ward 6 sitting members not seeking the same seat: Bondy is running for Mayor; Allin and McGregor run in Ward 8; Crew and Finn in Ward 7; Storey in Ward 6. Lauren Anderson (sitting West Kent councillor) runs for Mayor; she is not a Chatham ward member so has no sitting row here.
- The official certified list (chatham-kent.ca Candidates page) still could not be read (SharePoint list call under /_vti_bin/, robots-disallowed); re-check against it when reachable.
- Candidates (2026-10-26) are UNOFFICIAL: from the Sydenham Current's full list after nominations closed (2026-08-22), corroborated by the Chatham Voice (2026-08-24, https://chathamvoice.com/2026/08/24/fall-election-sees-100-plus-candidates/) and CKNow's ward list (https://cknow.beehiiv.com/p/chatham-kent-2026-election-candidates-by-ward, verified 2026-08-25). Where the three spell a name differently the majority spelling is used and the variant noted on the row. Incumbent markers come from the Chatham Voice and CKNow.
- New ward layout for 2026: Chatham-Kent goes from six wards to eight and council from 17 councillors to 14 (Chatham Voice: two seats in each of Wards 5, 6, 7 and 8). Ward 1 South West Kent, 2 South East Kent, 3 North East Kent, 4 North West Kent, 5 Wallaceburg, 6 North West Chatham, 7 North East Chatham, 8 South Chatham.
- Incumbents who sit on the current council keep their sitting (elected) row; their 2026 candidacy is a separate row (status incumbent-running, runningSeat = the new ward) — the coordinator may merge the pair.
- Chatham-Kent's own website blocks automated access; rows marked unofficial come from the Sydenham Current, the Chatham Voice, CKNow and Wikipedia (2022 Ontario municipal elections) and should be checked against the municipality when it can be read.
