Notes on this record
How the lists were read, and what could not be.
- Fort Frances is a single-tier town with an at-large council (no wards). Mayor and six Councillor seats included.
- Candidate source: the Clerk's signed Certified List of Candidates Running (PDF dated 2026-08-24), linked from fortfrances.ca/town/mayor-council/elections. The Town's HTML '2026 Certified Candidates' page (https://fortfrances.ca/node/1455) lists the two Mayor candidates but its Councillor table is empty, so the PDF is the authority here. Sitting council from the Town's CivicWeb 'Mayor and Council' portal page; retrieved 2026-10-09.
- Councillor John McTaggart runs for Mayor against Brent Calder; Mayor Andrew Hallikas and Councillor Wendy Brunetta are not on the certified list. Councillors Mike (Michael) Behan, Steven Maki, Kaleb Firth and Bill Morrison (Jr) seek re-election (the list prints 'Behan, Mike' and 'Morrison, Bill').
- No acclamations for Mayor or Council (9 candidates for 6 Councillor seats).
- The certified list gives names only; no candidate websites or emails recorded.
