Notes on this record

How the lists were read, and what could not be.

  • Port Colborne's /local region is the whole city; the mayor race and all three wards are included.
  • Ontario Regulation 140/26 (Council Composition of Certain Lower Tier Municipalities) reduced Port Colborne's council for 2026 to one Mayor and six City Councillors in three wards (previously eight councillors in four wards). Sitting members' `seat` values are their 2022–2026 wards; candidates' wards are the new 2026 wards, so ward numbers do not correspond. Where a sitting member runs in a differently numbered ward, `runningSeat` gives it; Mark Bagu, Dave Elliott (Ward 1) and Gary Bruno (Ward 3) run in the same-numbered ward under new boundaries.
  • Sitting council from the City's Mayor's Office and Ward 1–4 pages (2026-10-09). The Ward 2 page shows only Councillor Tim Hoyle; no second Ward 2 councillor is named on the City's site, so only seven councillors are carried. Ward 3 Councillor Frank Danch is not on the certified list.
  • Certified list from portcolborne.ca's Municipal Elections page (Clerk's notice for the 2026-08-21 nomination close; PDF '2026 Official List of Certified Candidates' linked from it; retrieved 2026-10-09). The page prints qualifying addresses, phone numbers and emails 'released with the consent of the person'; addresses and phones are not copied, and emails are kept only where plainly a campaign mailbox (most are personal, business or employer addresses and are left null). No seat was acclaimed; trustee candidates were then pending certification and are not captured.
