Notes on this record
How the lists were read, and what could not be.
- Federal and provincial representatives only, from a Represent point lookup at the city centre. The municipal council and any candidates are not yet captured.
- Municipal council added 2026-10-09 from https://cbrm.ns.ca/city-hall/councillors/ and each district page. Sydney is a community inside Cape Breton Regional Municipality: listed are the CBRM Mayor plus the councillors whose district descriptions cover Sydney neighbourhoods (5 North End/downtown, 6 Ashby/South End/downtown — printed 'District 6 & Deputy Mayor', 12 Whitney Pier/Ashby/downtown) and District 4 (Westmount, Sydney River), which contains the /local centre point per Represent's CBRM district layer. The other 8 CBRM councillors are not listed.
- Provincial member added 2026-10-09 from the Nova Scotia Legislature member list: the riding containing the /local centre point is Sydney-Membertou (point-in-boundary via Represent's current boundary set; the person is sourced from the legislature).
- Last municipal general election 2024-10-19 (Nova Scotia's province-wide municipal election day; date confirmed in HRM's 2024 Municipal Election project review, https://www.halifax.ca/sites/default/files/documents/city-hall/elections/2024_municipalelections_projectreviewandnextelectiondocument_8.5x11-web.pdf). The next is October 2028.
