Notes on this record
How the lists were read, and what could not be.
- Election date Wednesday, October 28, 2026 confirmed on the City of Thompson's election page.
- Candidates are from the City's own election page, which lists 'the registered candidates' 'as of Tuesday, September 22' (close of nominations) and cautions that the lists are not official until the withdrawal deadline (24 hours after close of nominations) has passed. The page had not been updated with a post-withdrawal 'official' list when read on 2026-10-09; no separate Notice of Election was found. Treat as the City's published list, subject to any withdrawal on September 23.
- No acclamations: three candidates for Mayor and thirteen for eight Councillor seats.
- Sitting councillors Duncan Wong and Oswald Sawh (Sawh won the September 10, 2024 by-election) are running for Mayor against incumbent Mayor Colleen Smook; they are recorded as incumbent-running with runningFor 'Mayor' and previousOffice 'Served different'. Councillor Chiew Chong is not on the 2026 list. Louis Fitzpatrick is Deputy Mayor.
- The City's Mayor and Council page lists the Mayor and seven Councillors (council has eight seats); no eighth sitting councillor is shown, and no explanation is given on the page.
- The candidate list gives names only, so candidate website/email are null; sitting members carry their official @thompson.ca addresses from their council pages.
- School Trustees (School District of Mystery Lake, 9 candidates listed) are skipped.
