Notes on this record

How the lists were read, and what could not be.

Thornhill is not a municipality: it is a community split by Yonge Street between the City of Vaughan (west) and the City of Markham (east). This record covers both sides. Markham side: the Markham mayor race, the four Markham Regional Councillor seats (elected city-wide, so they represent Markham's Thornhill too) and Markham Ward 1 (Thornhill / German Mills / Bayview Glen area), the one Markham ward covering Thornhill. Vaughan side (added 2026-10-09, unofficial — see below): the Vaughan mayor race, the four Local and Regional Councillor seats and Vaughan Ward 5 (Thornhill).
Candidate source: Markham's 'Who's Running' page — 'the list of candidates certified by Markham's City Clerk for the 2026 Markham Municipal Election'. Sitting council from Markham's Regional & Ward Councillors page and member pages (official @markham.ca emails) and the Mayor's Office page; retrieved 2026-10-09.
Mayor Frank Scarpitti, Regional Councillors Jim Jones, Joe Li and Alan Ho, and Ward 1 Councillor Keith Irish seek re-election. Deputy Mayor (Regional Councillor) Michael Chan is not on the certified list.
No acclamations in the races carried here.
Phone numbers on the City's list are not copied. Candidate emails kept only where campaign-style; personal-looking addresses left null.
The City of Vaughan's own website blocks automated access (Akamai 'Access Denied', HTTP 403); rows marked unofficial come from Wikipedia's '2026 York Region municipal elections' article (Vaughan section) and Wikipedia's 'Vaughan City Council' article (sitting ward councillors), corroborated name-for-name by the search-engine excerpt of the City's 'List of Acclaimed and Certified Candidates' post and, where it lists them, Vaughan Public Libraries' election page; they should be checked against the municipality when it can be read.
The sitting Mayor and four Local and Regional Councillors (and their @vaughan.ca emails) are confirmed by York Region's Regional Council page (official, retrieved 2026-10-09) — recorded on each row as officeSource. Linda Jackson is Deputy Mayor; on the ballot as 'Linda D. Jackson'.
Vaughan Ward 5 (Thornhill): Councillor Gila Martow was the only certified candidate and is acclaimed.
Markham rows are unchanged from the earlier record.
2026-10-10: sitting rows confirmed officially: Steven Del Duca (Mayor), Linda Jackson (Deputy Mayor (Local and Regional Councillor)), Mario Ferri (Local and Regional Councillor), Gino Rosati (Local and Regional Councillor), Mario G. Racco (Local and Regional Councillor), Gila Martow (Ward 5 (Thornhill)). Mayor and Local and Regional Councillors from York Region's Regional Council page (york.ca, re-read 2026-10-10); ward councillors from the City of Vaughan's own public GIS 'Ward' layer (ArcGIS Online, COUNCILLOR field, data last edited 2023-03-06; no licence stated). These rows are now official (unofficial: false; old Wikipedia source kept as previousSource). Candidate rows are unchanged and stay unofficial (2026 candidate lists are not in open data).
