Notes on this record
How the lists were read, and what could not be.
- Candidates from the Town of Whitby's candidate list, published through the Town's 'Plan Your Vote' (VoterView) app linked from https://www.whitby.ca/town-hall/municipal-elections/ — read 2026-10-09 from the app's own candidate_list data feed (the page is client-rendered). The feed carries each candidate's private and public email; only the 'public' email is used, and only where it is a non-free-mail or campaign-named address. Qualifying addresses and phones are not copied. The feed's candidate biographies are not used (standsFor left null).
- Sitting council from the Town's 'Mayor and Council' page ('2026 Town of Whitby Council Teams'), with @whitby.ca addresses.
- Changes of seat: Regional Councillor Chris Leahy (West Ward 2) runs for Mayor against Mayor Elizabeth Roy; Councillor Niki Lundquist (Centre Ward 3) runs for Regional Councillor in the same ward; Regional Councillor Steve Yamada (Centre Ward 3) runs for Regional Councillor in East Ward 4. Regional Councillor Rhonda Mulcahy and Councillor Steve Lee (North), Councillor Matt Cardwell (West), Councillor Victoria Bozinovski and Regional Councillor Maleeha Shahid (East) seek re-election to their own seats.
- The feed's IsIncumbent flag is false for every candidate; incumbency here comes from matching the Town's council page.
- No acclamations for Mayor or Council (both French-language school board seats were acclaimed; trustees are not recorded). Nomination papers were not opened.
