Notes on this record
How the lists were read, and what could not be.
- Federal and provincial representatives only, from a Represent point lookup at the city centre. The municipal council and any candidates are not yet captured.
- Municipal council from the City of Yellowknife's City Council and Mayor page (https://www.yellowknife.ca/city-council-and-mayor; official @yellowknife.ca emails, ROT13-obfuscated in the HTML and decoded as displayed), retrieved 2026-10-09. Ben Hendriksen, elected Councillor in 2022, was appointed by Council in May 2025 to complete the Mayor's term after Rebecca Alty's election to the House of Commons; Rob Warburton is Deputy Mayor. Cat McGurk is listed as a Councillor; whether she was elected in 2022 or at a later by-election was not confirmed. Sitting members not running carry the 2022-10-17 election (date from the City's 2022 results PDF).
- Yellowknife votes 2026-10-19 (City elections page). Final candidate list (2 for Mayor, 21 for Councillor; nominations closed 2026-09-21, eligibility challenge period ended 2026-09-24) from the City's news release 'Meet the Candidates' (https://www.yellowknife.ca/news/2026-municipal-election-meet-candidates) and candidate profiles at https://www.yellowknife.ca/elections/2026-municipal-election. Councillor Garett Cochrane is running for Mayor; Fequet, Foote, Payne and Warburton are running again; Hendriksen, McGurk, McLennan and Arden-Smith are not on the list. Candidate emails are kept only where plainly campaign addresses (e.g. hello@melissasyerformayor.ca, votewhiteford@gmail.com, ddemarcke2026@gmail.com); personal-looking addresses left null. Candidate profiles carry candidate-written bios — standsFor not yet extracted. This goes beyond the councils brief (which asked for candidates only in PEI) because the election is ten days away.
